Clinical and Cost implications of OLDOSA (comorbid obstructive sleep apnea in patients with obstructive lung disease)

Research question:

In patients with moderate-severe asthma does positive airway pressure (PAP) reduce the utilization of medical services?

Context of question:

  • Within a large integrated health system in UK
  • PAP compliance data not gathered
  • Focus on acute care and medications

Hypothesis: the use of PAP will be associated with an improvement in outcomes in patients with asthma and coexistent OSA.
